Students with fewer than five missing assignments (as of Thursday morning) left school for a bit today to see Cootie Shots: Theatrical Inoculations Against Bigotry at NCTC Theatre.
This was an incredibly well-done play and 4th/5th behavior was very good on this outing.
The parents and students alike enjoyed this socially relevant & thoughtful production.
Now that we are back at school, we are writing in our journals and discussing our thoughts and feelings regarding the play.
Thank you to Rafael's dad, Isabel's dad, Gabriela's dad, and Joshua's aunt who all went with us on the train and field trip. Thank you to Mr. Victor for telling us all about taking this field trip!

- From the University of California, Davis, I graduated with a BA in English Literature (major) and Teacher Education (minor). While at UCD, I competed on the swim team and was a yearbook staff writer. From the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, I earned a Master's Degree in Education, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction. While at the University of the Pacific I also wrote and received a grant for a literacy project and for a travel project. I possess a Clear Multiple Subject teaching credential with Supplementary Authorization in English from the State of California. I have passed the examination for California Teachers of English Learners (CLAD/CTEL) in all three domains. In addition, I am classified as a 'NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher'. For eleven years I have taught fourth grade (and I love it!) My education experiences also include 5th, a 4th/5th combination class, K, 1st, high school varsity/jv sports coaching and a unique & rewarding experience supervising incarcerated dual diagnosis developmentally disabled adults in math and reading activities. I am so excited to work with you this year!!
