Students may chew gum away from school. If you allow your child to chew gum, give them a piece at a time, not a whole pack. Packs of gum are coming to school with students in the 4th grade.
Gum itself is not really the problem, but keeping it in the right place seems to be an issue for 4th graders. I've found it under chairs, on the floor, and under the tables-eeeeeeeeeeeeeew!!!
