Our class has finished a unit on magnetism and will begin the second portion, which is about electricity.
We use a program called FOSS Science Kits. It allows me to teach using the California Science Standards for fourth graders, and it is easier because all materials are supplied in the kit.
The kits have been used for several years, which is fine, the items are reusable. However, the items for our first experiment are missing.
If anyone is able to donate these items, we would be very grateful scientists!!
We need:
8 D cell batteries, alkalines
8 lightbulbs, #222
16 short wires, maybe about 5 inches in length, 20--gauge 15 cm
1 wire stripper (for me to borrow, not for students)
1 roll of 20 gauge insulated wire
Please know that these items are safe for us to be using in our classroom. Some students were concerned (or, to my concern, excited) about doing "electrical experiments". These experiments are guided and totally safe. There is no risk of electrical injury while performing these experiments.
Please email me if you can send in these items, or have a question.
