The following was typed by Carmen, this week's news reporter in fourth grade. Carmen was told to write about what has been happening in 4th grade this week. No corrections or prompting from me, just her own words. Read on, for exciting news about what has happened in 4th grade this week:
I am the News reporter. In fourth grade we got to have jobs on the first day of October. In social studies we are learning about indians, what tribes they live in, how they find and make shelter, how to find and hunt food. We even went to Angel Island. It is near Alcatraz but a little bit farther. In math we are learning about that addition and subtraction are the oppisite. That inverse and oppisite mean the same thing. In art and religion we are making religious icons. It is when we all bring lots of rocks then we bring in puffy paint, then our teacher gives us a pictures of Mother Mary and Jesus. Then we have to cut out the out lines. Then we paint one of the big rocks black and one little rock black, too. Then we glue Mother Mary on the big rock and Jesus on the little rock. Then we get all the puffy paint and put all of some decorations all around the rocks . Then we display them on our display case. In science we sometimes have partners and lab coats on. Today we learned what can stick to a magnet. These are the things that can pen tips, dull nails, black rocks, pieces of screen, paper fasteners, paper clips, screws, cairs, and washers can all stick to a magnet.
