CHESS CLUB
Today Mr. Bair visited our class to introduce himself and tell a little bit about chess club. Mr. Bair has been teaching chess to my fourth graders for nearly 10 years! He brought a tasty treat and told us a little bit about the history of chess. Our first club meeting was very short because we had to go to mass to celebrate Epiphany.
GARDENING
Anthony's dad volunteered in our class today and worked with small groups in our garden. Students worked hard watering, sweeping, moving rocks, weeding, and generally caring for our "crops" and gardening areas. Thank you to Anthony's dad for this surprise today!
COLD WEATHER
Please send your child dressed appropriately for the cold weather. Some students have been very chilly at recess. We keep the classroom warm but outside is another story!
MULTIPLICATION
Please study the 0-12 facts with your child. Students are only able master problems like this: 89x34 if they know their facts very well. This is crucial & many students are behind in this.

- From the University of California, Davis, I graduated with a BA in English Literature (major) and Teacher Education (minor). While at UCD, I competed on the swim team and was a yearbook staff writer. From the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, I earned a Master's Degree in Education, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction. While at the University of the Pacific I also wrote and received a grant for a literacy project and for a travel project. I possess a Clear Multiple Subject teaching credential with Supplementary Authorization in English from the State of California. I have passed the examination for California Teachers of English Learners (CLAD/CTEL) in all three domains. In addition, I am classified as a 'NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher'. For eleven years I have taught fourth grade (and I love it!) My education experiences also include 5th, a 4th/5th combination class, K, 1st, high school varsity/jv sports coaching and a unique & rewarding experience supervising incarcerated dual diagnosis developmentally disabled adults in math and reading activities. I am so excited to work with you this year!!
