SKILL: Infer

When you infer, you draw conclusions to explain event.

Your inferences may not always be correct.

This is a skill we are focusing on in the areas of literature and science.

Sample:
Dion lives in a town with a lake nearby. People use the lake to swim, fish, and go boating. Dion read in the newspaper that the rainfall in the area had been less than normal for the summer. When he went to the lake, he noticed that the water level in the lake was lower than usual for the time of year. What could Dion infer caused the water level in the lake to be below normal?
