Curriculum Update

Math
Simplifying Expressions
ex) (15+3) + (20-10) or (11+5) -4 or 11 + (5-4)
Students should bring home their math notes every night to help them with their math homework. Math notes contain steps for solving problems as well as examples. Today we partnered with 6th graders to work on double digit multiplication. It is very important that 4th graders KNOW their multiplication facts so that they may efficiently solve problems like 98 x 45.

Science
Weather! We are using the organizational skill of 2 column notes. With parent permission, students are encouraged to watch the weather on the news and/or visit weather-related websites to look for familiar science vocabulary.

Literature
The Real Thief, by Willian Steig

Writing
Golden Gate Bridge factual essays

Laboratory
Hurricanes, non-fiction reading comprehension
