Max arrives!

Max made his first appearance in the 4/5 classroom today.

Since he's spent about 6 years in the 4th grade, I'm sure he is happy to have been promoted, even only if partially so, to the 5th grade! The 5th graders are used to Max in our room and are very knowledgeable about him & his required care. Yeay 5th graders!

4th graders really followed directions well and were very attentive when Max was introduced and we took a few minutes to play with him on the school yard. 4th graders demonstrated leadership-level listening skills. Max was really worn out by the his first day back & slept most of the afternoon!

MAX FACTS
Age:
Maybe 9, maybe 10.... maybe 15?!? We don't know because Max was a rescued animal from Petfinder.com If you are ready to adopt a pet, why not adopt one who really needs a home? Petfinder.com allows you to search for who you are looking for.

Breed:
Yorkshire Terrier

Gender:
Male

Weight:
About 8 pounds. Sometimes more, sometimes less. When Max stays with my mom & dad, Max comes back weighing a little bit more! My dad likes to give Max a lot of treats!

Tricks:
Max knows the following commands
1) sit
2) stay
3) drop it
4) get in the bag
5) hey, hey, slow down

Likes:
kids
apples
carrots
bananas
squeaky toys

Other:
Max very rarely barks.
He has had surgery on his knees and several teeth removed.
Max will chase cats if he sees one.
Max has hair, not fur. He is good for people with allergies (like me!) because he does not shed.

FLAT MAX & SERVICE HOUR OPPORTUNITY
1. Print color copies of a photo of Max (will be provided)
2. Cut & laminate the photographs (at school, supplies & sample provided)

This will allow students to take a "Flat Max" with them on any special trips or DO interesting things they do around San Francisco. All photographs submitted will go into our Flat Max photo album.

So far, some of Max's travels have taken him to Hawai'i, President Obama's inauguration with Ms. Rita, Disneyland, Safari West in Santa Rosa, biking in the Central Valley, elk hunting in Texas, swimming lessons at UCSF, Ocean Beach, doctor's appointments, and more! Flat Max even made the cross country Route 66 Road trip on my honeymoon with me! Flat Max travels easily & all you have to do is remember to take the pictures! This is a really fun home-school-connection.
