Successful Field Trip!

Our field trip was fantastic! We took the J-Church MUNI to Montgomery Station and walked several downtown blocks to get to the Wells Fargo Gold Rush History Museum. Because so many people were rushing around on the street, our students made sure they 'balanced' on a line in the sidewalk. This made it easy to keep track of everyone in our group. Several people on their way to work commented on what a well behaved class we were- nice work 4th graders!

Once inside, we all took the elevator to get to the restrooms. Afterward, our docent spoke to us about the Gold Rush and explained the various artifacts on display. Students answered many of his questions & he mentioned to me that he was impressed with the amount of knowledge they had! I felt very proud of how much information they retained.

Carmen was selected to put on a white glove and touch a real stagecoach and all of us got to try a "ride" in a stagecoach replica. There were many artifacts we were permitted to look at and several we could touch. In addition, we answered questions in a scavenger hunt completed in pairs.

Sabrina's mom joined us for a bit and led us to Redwood Park next to the Transamerica Pyramid for our lunch. We walked back to MUNI and rode back to school. Unfortunately, it was at this time that I realized I'd given MUNI a huge tip. Children ride MUNI for 50 cents each way, not $1.00-- oh no!!! I certainly won't make that mistake again!

A special thank you to Antonio's dad, Jaden's mom, Elijah's mom, and Sabrina's mom who helped out on this trip.

The Wells Fargo Museum is free and open to the public. You might want to make another visit with your family.
