Keep your Hands to Yourself

Before the class entered the classroom on Tuesday morning, I explained that play-fighting such as play slapping, headlocks, play punching, etc. would result in a 15 minute detention after school on Fridays.

Play fighting in the classroom is disruptive to learning.

Play fighting on the school yard results in problems because eventually someone gets angry or injured.

It is also a bad example to younger students also playing on the yard.

We discussed this and I asked for questions to check for understanding and a feeling of fairness.

Some students are struggling with this concept and their behavior choices have resulted in a detention.

Detention for this matter or any other matter cannot be served this Friday due to our field trip. Instead, students who have detention will serve their time on October 3.
